A couple of big offensive innings paved the way to victory in Tuesday’s HSBN Boys of Summer July D 18U title game, as the Florida Revenge rolled to a 12-1 victory over the Paladins Prime, at Davis Field in Oakland Park. The rematch between the two finalists of the July C 18U final got off in favor of the Revenge early on, and a six-run sixth inning was capped by a walk-off grand slam home run from Andre Juhasz to finish things off.

Both teams have now taken one championship in the summer series between one another, with a chance at a rubber match in the Champion’s Tournament, which is expected to begin on Thursday.

Coming nearly to the end of an impressive career competing in HSBN tournaments, Revenge starter Chad Allen had nice contributions on both sides of the action. The right-hander earned the win following three shutout innings, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out four. He also got the scoring going with a sac-fly RBI in the first, putting the finishing touches on some fine at bats to open the action when Greg Stavrinos doubled to left and Tomas Batista singled through the left side to start the inning.

Four runs in the second opened things up. Justin Weithorn singled to start it off, and Aaron Cornieles and Alex Stavrinos both walked to load the bases. Batista reached on an error that plated two and Allen drove another with a single to left.

Freddy Cornieles got into the action in the third, drawing a walk and then scoring on an RBI single from Weithorn. The first five batters of the sixth inning all reached base to push the lead further, before Juhasz put a charge into an offering and sent it disappearing off into the night over the left field fence, ending the action via the mercy rule.
